While Moro Mou does require breast milk or formula and purees for infants to be provided by the family, once your child is ready to venture into finger foods and full meals, Moro Mou will provide healthful, balanced meals for morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. I strive for a thoughtful, research-informed approach to food for children, and I am open to suggestions from families! Please note, however, that I am not able to tailor individual meals, meaning that unfortunately I cannot accommodate specific diets. If a child in a cohort develops a food allergy, I will eliminate that food item from our menu for everyone.

The meals at Moro Mou Nursery and Early School prioritize whole, natural, unprocessed, and healthful foods, with guidance from Harvard's Healthy Eating Plate and Healthy Eating Pyramid and adhering to DCFS' guidelines for meals. Our meals emphasize vegetables and fruits, whole grains, lean meats and plant-based proteins, and keep servings of dairy to about two per day. Here are some examples of typical snacks and lunches at Moro Mou:

Snacks (all include whole milk):

  • Blueberries and whole wheat toast

  • Banana and whole wheat waffle

  • Sliced bell peppers and hummus with whole wheat pita

  • Quartered cherry tomatoes and whole wheat crackers

Lunches (all include a vegetable and a fruit on the side):

  • Hummus and avocado sandwich on whole wheat bread

  • Roasted vegetable pizza

  • Bean, rice, and avocado burrito

  • Chickpea-based pasta
